Mares Shipping celebrates 40-year anniversary
The new year has only just begun and already Mares has a good reason to celebrate: its 40th anniversary.
The company was founded on 2 January 1975 by Eckehardt Bauer as a broker for time and dry freight charter. Afterwards, Mares also became the general agent of the Peruvian shipping company Consorcio Naviera Peruano. Since then, the company can look back on a successful history:
Not long after, the scope of service of the company was expanded to include the supply of spare parts and technical equipment for ships. Claus Witt, who joined Mares in 1983 as Head of Department of import and export, became a partner of the company in 1992. Today, Mares Shipping has 65 employees with an annual turnover of 28 million euros. Mares thanks its success mainly to its competitive price-performance-ratio and the excellent quality of the spare parts, which has given rise to long-term customer relations. Nevertheless, Mares is always on the look-out for new challenges and innovations. For a number of years now, for instance, they have also been supplying spare parts to industrial plants. Only in 2014, did Mares also include the Anti-Piracy Barrier ‘Guardian’ in its product catalogue.
Mares means “the oceans” and reminds us of Mares Shipping’s core business. In 2015, the trading company still relies on the tried and tested “Mares-M” – the M was, for instance, used in an advertising campaign. The year 2015 is fully dedicated to our 40-year anniversary. In the summer, a big family celebration will be held for all employees. After all, despite its continuous expansion, the company’s corporate culture still centres around family.
We are looking forward to many more years and would like to thank our customers for their loyalty.
